About the Event
Join us for a five-part DE&I series offered through SWE's Advanced Learning Center. We will be streaming the webinar together from 6-7:30 PM. Discussions will take place at frequent intervals during the webinar to make it more interactive.
This session empowers participants to go from passive observers of bias - to active bystanders and allies - prepared to respond to and interrupt biased behavior. Via scenarios, participants learn first how to decide if they should confront an issue, along with examples of strong ally responses, and how to deal with the fear of calling out an offender.
By learning to reframe ally behavior as a way to demonstrate caring, participants reduce the “intimidation factor” of being a vocal advocate and DE&I champion. Building on the day’s learning, participants make their own ally commitments for creating more equitable, psychologically safe environments and interactions.
