Scholarship Application

The FY24 Scholarship Program is closed.

AWARD INFORMATION

SWE SCV promotes SWE's mission by awarding scholarships to local women pursuing an accredited engineering or computer science degree (ABET or CSAB) in the United States. SWE SCV awards approximately $15,000 in scholarships each year.

We welcome applications for full time students who are:

  1. Entering College Freshman in the Fall 2024

  2. Community College Student in the Fall 2024

  3. Undergraduate Student, Continuing in the Fall 2024

  4. Re-entry College Student in the Fall 2024

  5. Graduate Student in Masters Program (not PhD or DE programs) in the Fall 2024

Please review the table below carefully as applications will only be considered if all the materials are complete and submitted via Jotform by the deadline is February 23rd, 2024. No reminders will be sent for missing materials.

Reference Forms are due by March 8, 2024. Applicants are responsible for submitting applications with enough time for reference providers to submit the reference form. Link to reference forms will be emailed to reference providers after the scholarship application is submitted.

Please read the Frequently Asked Questions below before beginning the application. Personal and financial information will be held in strict confidence. If a question does not apply, indicate “N/A.”

AWARD TIMELINE

Fall 2023: Scholarship Application Open

March 8th, 2024: Scholarship DEADLINE

March 22nd, 2024: Scholarship Reference Forms Due

March 2024: Application Judging

 

April 2024: Award Notifications

May 18th, 2024: Scholarship Banquet

August/September 2024: Scholarship Payout directly to your school

 

STUDENT ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

High school seniors, college, and graduate students who identify as female and are pursuing a BS or MS in engineering or computer science full-time at accredited universities (ABET or CSAB) are eligible for SWE SCV scholarships. 

 

Applicants must either have a permanent address or be attending a school in the following counties:

South San Mateo County

South Alameda County

Santa Clara County

Santa Cruz County

San Benito County

ITEMS NEEDED FOR SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

  • Name and contact information for two references*

  • Resume

  • Essay (see prompt below)

    • Your essay should be 500 - 1000 words.

    • Essays will be checked for plagiarism!​

  • Needs based Essay, optional

    • 250 word maximum

  • Project/Paper Samples

  • Transcript(s)

* Reference Forms - Once you provide a name and email address of your reference, we will send them a reference form to fill out. Please give your reference adequate time to fill out their form so they can submit it before the deadline.
